Welcome to Cowjoy!

Cowjoy farm is a small family run non-profit in the Lost Pines, just outside Austin in Texas. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of cattle in small scale operations: homesteads, cow/calf ranches, sanctuaries. 

We believe that cattle are complex sentient beings with personalities and emotional, cognitive and social needs. We believe that positive relationships with their human caregivers are central to their well-being and happiness. We believe that to live their best lives cows need an environment that goes beyond physical welfare to also provide intellectual stimulation and emotional  support.

We maintain our own small herd to observe and road test interventions. We provide education and resources online. Locally we offer site visits. Where we assess current provisions, educate those caring for cattle and enrichment installation (if requested).

Cowjoy Farm

Nestled between two state parks in Lost Pines, Bastrop County, Texas, Cowjoy Farm provides a safe, serene twelve acres for our cows to roam and munch to their heart's delight!
